Business Lighting Tips: Interior

Interior lighting sets the mood for everyone entering your commercial space, employees and customers included. To set a good tone for your guests, consider the lighting tips below to improve the interior of your commercial building. Your commercial electricians in mid-Missouri are here to help you make your interior space the best. Check out the lighting tips below, provided by Advanced Lighting Service.

Balance Lighting

Each of the different lighting types serve a specific purpose. Accent, task, and ambient lighting should be used appropriately throughout your commercial space for optimum lighting. Layering these three lighting types create a welcoming area for others. From customer shopping to employees working, you want the right type of light to illuminate their space.

Lighted Entryway

As guests enter your building, you want to ensure they feel welcomed with a well-light entryway. Keeping the entrance to your commercial building lit up helps anyone entering your space know exactly where to go, and creates a warm, inviting place for them. A well-lit entryway also helps to create a safe environment for employees and customers alike.

Incorporate LED bulbs

Ideal for all lighting types, LED bulbs are extremely energy efficient and provide a high quality light source. The light put off by LED bulbs emit a bright, pure white light which mimics daylight. When the human body is exposed to this light, it reacts as it would in natural sunlight, therefore helping employees be more productive. For customers and employees alike, LED is a better light source for their needs.

Add Quality Fixtures

Lighting fixtures are an important design aspect of your interior space. To represent your company in a positive way, select quality fixtures that coordinate well together. For a professional look, it is recommended to use similar fixtures throughout your entire interior space.

Maintain Lights

Interior light maintenance is an important part of your business. From creating a comfortable place for your customers to promoting a productive work place for your employees, ensure your lights are in proper working order. The best commercial lighting company in mid-Missouri offers a maintenance plan for companies in the area. We will ensure your lights are working as they should, on a regular basis and make any needed repairs in a timely manner.

Top 5 Ways to Save Money this Winter

With winter quickly approaching, this can be a hard time of year for many business owners with raising electric costs along with other payments. Your trusted commercial electricians in mid-Missouri want to help you save a little money as the temperature continues to drop in the area. The cost to run a business can seem significant, therefore Advanced Lighting Service has provided a few helpful ways to save on your electric bill this winter.

1) Secure Windows & Doors

While it is important to keep doors closed when it is cold outside, ensure there are no drafts coming through the window or door surrounds. If you do discover your openings are not air tight, replace the sealant around these spaces. If your building has large shipping doors or garage doors, ensure these are only open when necessary.

2) Let Natural Light In

Reduce artificial light use when Mother Nature allows. Try to use as much natural light to brighten your commercial space. If your building has exterior windows, try to open blinds or curtains when the sun is shining in. The solar heat produced when the sun shines in can help make your space feel a bit warmer, allowing you to reduce your heating bill.

3) Use LED Lighting

LED bulbs can significantly reduce the energy consumption of your commercial building. The technicians at Advanced Lighting Service can help you transition all of your traditional bulbs to LED, for a more energy efficient business. LED light bulbs tend to last 50 times longer than a traditional incandescent bulb. The initial cost of an LED is a little higher than traditional lighting methods, but the energy savings and longevity help make up for the pricing difference.

4) Purchase Energy Efficient Equipment

When it is time to upgrade or replace your business equipment, consider purchasing energy efficient machines. Not only will your company save money on the monthly electric bill, you can also receive a tax incentive for choosing energy star products.

5) Conduct an Energy Audit

Advanced Lighting Service offers an energy savings consultation for area businesses. Our technicians will come out and look over your commercial building electrical and equipment situation, and make any suggestions for improvements. Our energy evaluations are free of charge and Ameren Missouri offers commercial incentives on your electric bill, that can be claimed when upgrades are made.

To run a successful business, you have to make all of your dollars count. The ability for your commercial space to be able to function as normal, while cutting back on electricity consumption, is a win! The best lighting company in mid-Missouri wants to help you save a little bit of money, as the winter weather nears our area. While we want to help you cut down on monthly electrical costs, we know it is important to keep your building running efficiently. An electrical issue can bring production to a halt, which can be devastating for any business in the area. Reduce Vampire Energy Today!

As a business owner, you may be constantly looking for ways to cut monthly expenses, like your commercial electric bill. Your trusted lighting company in mid-Missouri wants to spread the word about vampire energy, or energy drain. Cutting costs where possible can help improve the bottom line for your business, which we know is an important factor. Your expert commercial electricians have provided some helpful tips to reduce vampire energy drain.

What are Energy Vampires?

Unnecessary energy drain is known as vampire energy. The term refers to gadgets and appliances that waste energy from simply being plugged in, even if they are switched to “off” mode, in some cases. It is energy that is being pulled, but un-utilized. Many times office equipment and computers run all day and night, this can be a vampire energy drain. Even the smallest plugs can pull unused energy and impact your monthly utility bill. Now that you know a little more about vampire energy, Advanced Lighting Service has provided some ways to reduce the amount of unnecessary energy drain.

How to Combat the Vampires-

Unplug: When a device is not in use, remember to unplug it to reduce the power drain that will occur, even if it is not being used. If there is an appliance or machine that is not often used at your business, remember to unplug it after each time being used.

Utilize Power Strips: It is recommended to plug electrical equipment into power strips and flip the switch to off, when not in use. There are even smart power strips that automatically stop the power flow when devices are not in use, which may be a great investment for businesses.

Take Advantage of Sleep Mode: To reduce energy drain during idle time, set your equipment to sleep mode after only a few minutes of non-use. This can help improve the wasted vampire energy your company may experience with a number of computers in the office area.

Replace with Efficient Machines: When it is time to replace your commercial equipment, consider purchasing an energy efficient replacement. Whether you are replacing electronics or appliances for your business, an energy star device can help to reduce your vampire energy drain.

Now that you know more about vampire energy and how to improve unnecessary power drain, you are ready to start cutting down on your unused energy expense. As a business owner, we know that you strive to cut waste, especially wasted energy costs. Advanced Lighting Service is here for all of your commercial electrical needs. Turkey Day Traditions

On the fourth Thursday of November, friends and family members gather to spend time together and practice a number of traditions. From stuffing yourself at dinner to playing catch in the back yard with your cousins, there are a number of family traditions that carry on year in and year out. Provided below, by your trusted commercial lighting company in mid-Missouri, are some of the most popular traditions in which families throughout the United States partake.

The Parade

Every year on Thanksgiving morning, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade takes place in New York City. The parade includes marching bands, floats, songs and performances, and giant balloons that float along the parade route. While not everyone can attend the parade, many Americans tune in to watch the parade on television.

The Feast

From turkey to stuffing, the Thanksgiving feast is an important part of many family gatherings. Staples in the traditional Thanksgiving menu include turkey, stuffing, potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, and rolls. Don’t forget about the deserts! Pumpkin, pecan, and apple pie are all popular desert items for Turkey Day.

The Wishbone

Found inside the turkey, attached to the breast meat, the wishbone is a tradition in which a number of families partake. After the meal, two people take an end of the bone, make a wish, and pull. It is thought that the person’s wish who ends up with the largest portion of wishbone will come true.

The Turkey Pardon

On Thanksgiving, the President of the United States will receive a gift of a live turkey. In a yearly ceremony, the President will “pardon” the turkey, which allows it to live out the rest of his or her life safely, on a farm.

The Football Game

Every year, on Thanksgiving Day, the NFL holds a series of football games. Whether you choose to gather around the TV and watch the games or go to the game to watch it live, football is a big part of Thanksgiving traditions. Some families have started their own tradition of playing a game of football in the back yard as well.

What are your favorite family traditions?

Lighting Safety Around the Holidays

As a business owner, you may want to get into the Christmas spirit for your commercial space. This can boost employee moral and get customers into the spirit of the holiday. There are a few safety tips to keep in mind when decorating for the holidays. A number of issues can be caused by holiday lights, help keep your business safe by taking the proper precautions when installing Christmas lights. Your trusted lighting company in Mid-Missouri is here to help keep everyone in and around your commercial space safe this holiday season.

Look over Lights

Before hanging up lights on the exterior of your building or decorating a Christmas tree inside your office, inspect the light stands. Ensure there is no damage to the cord and that all lights are properly working, before installing the strand of lights. This can help catch an electrical issue before it arises and save you a little frustration, if the lights do not work to begin with.

Don’t overload an outlet

Ensure the outlet you are plugging into can handle the additional pull of the Christmas lights you wish to illuminate. You do not want to overload an outlet, causing a breaker to flip off. This can cause an electrical hazard as well as slow production of your employees, if the electricity goes out.

Secure Extension Cords

If you use extension cords for Christmas lights around your commercial building, ensure the cords are secure. Do not place cords in places where they can be pinched, like under a rug or through a door or window. To prevent a tripping hazard, ensure all extension cords are secured.

Use Safety to Install and Remove

When decorating your business with Christmas lights, ensure the proper safety protocol is being used. If you or an employee needs to reach an elevated surface for the lights, use a stable step stool or ladder to reach. Never lean or reach when hanging lights up on a ladder. After the holidays, remember to use the same precaution when climbing a ladder to remove the lights.

Call Advanced Lighting Service!

4 Ways to Protect Your Commercial Property at Night

Business owners and managers will often stay up at night worrying about their commercial property. Specific light placement and maintenance can actually help to protect your commercial building after dark. Advanced Lighting Service has provided a few options to help deter criminals from breaking into your commercial space after hours. The best commercial electricians in Mid-MO want to help you better protect your business at night.

1. Exterior Lighting

A commercial property should have well illuminated entrances and windows. This can help steer a thief away from your building, for fear of being seen breaking into your commercial space. Adding light to the exterior of your business can keep your property from becoming a target. In addition to exterior lighting, you should also safely secure all exits with a deadbolt lock system, for a stronger hold.

2. Illuminate the Parking Lot

Add and maintain adequate lighting in the parking lot of your commercial space. Just like exterior lighting, an illuminated parking lot can keep criminals away from your space, fearing that they may be caught trying to break into your building. If you do have lights in your parking lot, ensure they are working properly and staying lit up all night is important.

3. Participate in the Night Watch Program

We offer a program in which we will come to your commercial space after hours, once a month. We will notify you if any of your lighting is not functioning properly, which can in turn help deter a criminal. After we perform our inspection, you will receive a report. Another benefit of our Night Watch program is prompt scheduled maintenance. It is important to maintain your lighting system to ensure all lamps will be illuminated, especially after dark. Advanced Lighting Service offers timely service and emergency repairs for businesses who are Night Watch participants.

4. Interior Light Placement

At night, strategic interior lighting is just as important as exterior lighting. Many times if lights are on inside, someone on the outsides does not know if someone is there or not. This can deter a break in attempt if they think someone may be present inside the commercial space. Try to keep a light or two on near a window or door, so it may seem that there is a person inside. We know it can be costly to leave all of your interior lights on all night, but leaving a few illuminated may help prevent a break in.

A break in can impact a commercial property in a number of negative ways. To help keep your business safe and deter a thief from breaking in, consider focusing on your lighting efforts. A well illuminated building has a less chance of being targeted from a criminal. The experienced electricians in Mid-MO are here to help better protect your commercial space. Give us a call today for a free consultation to find out how you can improve your business lighting system, for a safer environment at night.

3 Benefits of a Commercial Sign for Your Business

A business sign outside of your location can benefit your company in a number of ways. From gaining exposure to helping potential customers find your location, a commercial sign is an important part of your marketing plan. Advanced Lighting Service offers a number of signage installation and maintenance options to help your company. Your expert commercial electricians in Mid-MO are here to point out some of the major benefits that go hand in hand with putting a sign outside of your business location.

Benefit #1 – Location

The ability for customers to locate your business is key for running a profitable and successful venture. A sign can help your paying customers to find your location in order to receive your product or service. Whether you have a sign on the exterior of your building or in your parking lot, it can help direct people where to go when searching for your business.

Benefit #2 – Attention

Many times a potential customer will not be actively searching for your product, but may be drawn in by your business sign. As passive customers drive by your location, a sign can give a subliminal message about your business. They may not be in need of your product or service that day, but now you have gained their attention and will more likely be top of mind when your goods are needed. A well-lit sign with eye-catching colors can attract people into your business. A sign not only gains exposure for your business, but helps to build attention for your company’s commercial location.

Benefit #3 – Branding

Often a sign is the first impression a potential customer has of your business, ensure you are doing your business justice by having a quality sign that is in good condition. Many people will draw a conclusion about your company by your signage. Ensure you are representing your business well with a sign that shows off the commercial location you have worked so hard to establish and maintain.

What is Group Relamping?

The illumination of a commercial building is imperative to keep production rolling and to promote a safe environment for both employees and customers. A light bulb burning out can cause a number of distractions, and even a dangerous space inside or outside of your business. Group relamping can help to prevent an untimely burn out of a light bulb. Your trusted commercial electricians in Mid-MO are here to help clarify about group relamping, and the benefits of such maintenance. The professionals at Advanced Lighting Service have provided further information below about group relamping.

Group Relamping:

A regular maintenance check and bulb replacement schedule, known as group relamping, offers a number of benefits to your business. An experienced lighting company in Missouri can come into your commercial space and quickly change out your lights. Let an experienced professional replace your lights on a regular schedule to maximize efficiency and save money for your business.

The Benefits:

A major benefit of group relamping is the fact that it saves money over time. Not only does replacing lamps before they burn out maximize energy efficiency, it can also save from slowed or halted production if a lamp is no longer illuminated. A professional with the proper equipment and knowledge of lighting systems can quickly relamp your entire facility, which would take you or your employees much longer to accomplish. When a business invests in the maintenance of their lighting system, less distractions are presented for employees. Keep your workers on tasks instead of worrying about a burnt out light, or taking time away to replace a bulb during work hours. A lamp that is no longer illuminated creates a distracting environment for both employees and customers. Many times an employee cannot see accurately if a burn out does occur, causing production to slow or even come to a stop. A customer can be deterred from spending time or shopping in a certain area of your business, if a light is burnt out. A safer environment is created when all lights in your system are functioning properly. Help your business remain safe by investing in a group relamping schedule for your employees and customers.

Contact Advanced Lighting Service to Schedule Your Group Relamping Session:

To help ensure your business does not experience a lamp burn out situation, schedule regular maintenance checks and replacement sessions throughout the year. Advanced Lighting Service offers a regular group relamping service in which we check your bulbs and replace them before a burn out occurs. Your professional electrical team in Mid-MO would be pleased to assist in making your commercial space better for all that enter. Benefits and Uses of Our Bucket Truck Service

Throughout the state of Missouri, there are a number of businesses that could benefit from the use of a bucket truck, at one point or another. Whether your business is installing exterior signage on your commercial building, or replacing a faulty parking lot light bulb, the ability to safely reach high up in the air is helpful. The professional team of commercial electricians in Mid-MO can help you and your business check a number of tasks off of your to do list. Our team is equipped with six bucket and man lift trucks for a number of services that Advanced Lighting Service offers our customers.

BENEFIT

Cost Savings- Many times utilizing our bucket truck service is cheaper than renting a lift or similar vehicle for a business owner or manager. When renting from a company for your own use, you have to rent for multiple hours, or even an entire day at a time, which can add to the rental price.

Time Efficient- It usually saves quite a bit of time for a company to hire us for their bucket truck needs. You will not have to take the time to go rent a lift truck. If you utilize a professional for your hard to reach projects, it can help keep your employees on task, therefore saving them time.

Added Safety- The use of a bucket or lift truck is much safer than having yourself or an employee climb a ladder up in the air. Help keep your workplace a safe environment by hiring Advanced Lighting Service for your hard to safely reach tasks.

OUR SERVICES

Exterior Lighting Installation- If your business is in need of exterior lighting, we can safely wire and install them with our bucket or lift trucks. A professional should always help with your wiring and lighting services, to ensure your commercial building is up to code.

Signs- An exterior business sign can help draw potential customers to your location, and bring awareness to your business or brand. We offer sign installation and repair services. Whether the sign is on your building or on a pole in the parking lot, a bucket truck makes it much easier and safer to work on installing and repairing a sign up in the air.

Lighting Repair- If your exterior lights have a malfunction, a bucket truck is often needed to easily repair the light. A lift can help safely bring our technicians up to light level to investigate the issue and fix the light that is not working at your business location.

OTHER SERVICES

A number of contractors use Advanced Lighting Service’s bucket trucks and man lifts to perform tasks they are contracted to do. We have provided a few examples of other services that can be performed with our lift vehicles.

Paint Building- It can be dangerous to climb a ladder to paint the exterior of a building. A solid platform can help make the job go quicker, and much safer. A painter can perform a better quality job if their feet are stabilized.

Clean Window- Windows, like painting, can present a dangerous situation up in the air. Keep your feet on a stable surface through the use of one of our bucket trucks or man lifts.

High Installation- A number of installations take place high up in the air in homes or businesses. Contractors are often hired to hang Christmas lights on a high peak or work on the exterior of a building up high. Complete these tasks that need to be performed up in the air safely with the use of our lift services.

There are a number of tasks that should be performed from the safety of a bucket truck, versus a tall ladder. Help to keep your employees and yourself safe by utilizing the services offered by the best commercial lighting company in Mid-MO. We know that you are busy with the everyday tasks that your business must accomplish, let Advanced Lighting Service help out with any of your hard to reach exterior projects. Our bucket trucks are stocked with a wide variety of bulb and ballasts, ready to help take on your next lighting install or repair. If you are in need of an exterior sign repair, window cleaning, or a number of other services, contact us at (573) 746-7997.
